Voiceover Process

First off, as I know time is important, I’ll generally turnaround a first draft on any non-long-form script within 24 hours. Gets the ball rolling and some quick feedback to build with.

I try to keep email back-and-forth to a minimum, as doing everything in good time is key to reducing stress for everyone concerned.

To achieve this, I’ll request a big info-dump in the first email or two:

  • Script (of course)

  • Style notes

  • Reference voiceover/video (if available)

  • Chosen backing track (if available)

  • Negative information can also be very useful, what music DIDN’T work last time, which style DIDN’T you like when the previous voiceover artist tried it out.

The more of these we get sorted before cracking on with work, the better the chance we get one of those sweet one-take’ers.

After you’ve given all this I’ll record a first draft, you review it, and send feedback. We continue this carousel until you’re happy. Then I clean up the file of any pops, breaths, and mouth noises… and pop over the final delivery.
